English: Premier League
Match start: 17:00 (GMT+2)
During the opening round of the new EPL the sextet of bright favorites was paying against different middle level teams and underdogs of the EPL. This time at the second round we will enjoy the battle of new vice-champion Tottenham and the current winner of the tournament Chelsea.
The forthcoming battle of the teams of Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte will be held on the biggest British arena Wembley (90 000) and of course it attracts attention not only in England.
Tottenham (the head coach Mauricio Pochettino)
During the first round, the Spurs thanks to two scored goals (Dele Alli and Ben Davies) had won over Newcastle in away match (0:2) and became one of the leaders of new champions’ race. The forthcoming meeting the team will meet with the following squad (3-4-2-1):
Lloris – Dier, Toby, Vertonghen - Walker-Peters, Wanyama, Dembélé, Davies - Alli, Eriksen – Kane;
Injured: Erik Lamela and Danny Rose;
Chelsea (the head coach Antonio Conte)
It is obvious that Chelsea is under impression of terrible judging of Craig Pawson during the opening meeting Chelsea – Burnley which ended with sensational defeat of the hosts of Stamford Bridge with the score (2:3). As it was expected, the head referee of this match wasn’t punished with long-term disqualification and is waiting for a new appointment on one of the games of the second round.
And what about Chelsea? Of course, in this situation the team of Antonio Conte would like to play with the club of absolutely other level. But the calendar plan is stable and that is why champion will play with the Spurs and also with huge squad losses (3-4-2-1):
Courtois – Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rüdiger – Moses, David Luiz, Kanté, Alonso – Willian, Boga – Morata;
Injured: Eden Hazard, Tiemoué Bakayoko;
Disqualified: Gary Cahill and Francesc Fàbregas;
The forthcoming meeting will be played without best center forward Gary Cahill, the best winger Eden Hazard and the main playmaker Francesc Fàbregas. And because life is not a bed of roses Antonio Conte had moved David Luiz to the middle line.
More some history! Even earlier, when the situation was better than this one, the blues had little wins on the home arena of Spurs:
20.10.2012. Tottenham – Chelsea – 2:4 (Gallas, Defoe – Cahill, Mata 2, Sturridge);
28.09.2013. Tottenham – Chelsea – 1:1 (Sigurðsson – Terry);
01.01.2015. Tottenham – Chelsea – 5:3 (Kane 2, Rose, Townsend, Chadli – Costa, Hazard, Terry);
29.11.2015. Tottenham – Chelsea – 0:0;
04.01.2017. Tottenham – Chelsea – 2:0 (Alli 2);
And now when Antonio Conte is lacking top class football players in the center the possible winning of the vice-champion is doubtless.
Tottenham – 2.10, draw – 3.60, Chelsea–3.75;
