The English football association (FA) has declared about the termination of the commercial relations Ladbrokes and other bookmakers. The decision has been made under the pressure of public after Joey Barton’s case.
We will remind, that Joey Barton has been disqualified for 1,5 years because of betting. During the period from 2006 till 2016 the midfielder has made 1260 bets on football matches, playing for English clubs. The football player admitted his guilt and has received medical treatment for a game addiction.
Barton also has urged FA to reconsider the dependence on bookmakers that has stirred up the public. As a result the management of association has made the decision to stop all sponsor's relations with bookmakers when season 2016/17 will end, as BBC reports.
At the same time, the association will continue to cooperate with Ladbrokes and other bookmakers regarding exchange of information on suspicious activity around football matches.
"We would like to thank Ladbrokes for the fact that they were a valuable partner, for their professionalism and understanding" — the executive director of FA Glenn Martin has declared.
The Ladbrokes company has reported that understand the decision of football association and have declared determination to share information about suspicious match betting.
