Peru has knocked out strong Uruguay in ¼ final but whether Peru be able to cope with Chile on the 4th of July?
Chile has got not in the most difficult group and had no problems as a result with getting into the playoffs. Wins in the two first rounds over Japan (4:0) and Ecuador (2:1) ensured Reinaldo Rueda’s team the berth into the ¼ final but in the fight with Uruguay for the first line Chileans have fallen on face – defeat 0:1 has left them on the second line.
In the ¼ final Chile was playing against Colombia which showed magnificent football during the group stage. Regulation time has ended in a goalless draw and the penalty shootout has happened. Chile gained success and the rival made the mistake which became fatal.
Peru is the main sensation of the tournament so far – Ricardo Gareca‘s team in the group was only the third, but this didn’t stop the players from getting into the playoffs. In the first round Peruvians earned the goalless draw with Venezuela and won over Bolivia with the score 3:1, having left quite good chances to pass the group.
Final round became the nightmare for Peru – Brazil justified all predictions and won with the score 5:0, having left Peruvians on the third line in the table. Thus the team of Gareca has got the leader of group “C” Uruguay as a rival which it has sensationally managed to win over in the penalty shootout after the goalless draw in regulation time.
In five last matches Chile has won over Peru 4 times
Chile has lost only in one out of four matches in frames of the tournament
Peru has got only one victory in frames of the current Copa América
Chile during the group stage has showed that it has the most serious ambitions which the team is carrying into actions successfully. In the match with Peru in which Rueda’s team is thought to be the unconditional favourite Chileans will obviously rely on the attack and will try to get the victory during the regulation time in order not to leave the tournament in the penalty shootout as Uruguay has done.
Defense of Peru is not extremely reliable. It is enough to remember at least the match with Brazil and Uruguay has earned so many scoring moments that they would be enough for two matches, therefore Chile has every chance to win.
