Angélique in a semi-final of Wimbledon has surely overplayed Elena Ostapenko with the score (6:3,6:3). Many experts claim that the Latvian has presented that victory because of her own mistakes, but we wouldn’t hurry to draw such conclusions. We have to note, that the tennis player has managed to choose the correct tactics. She was constantly changing the speed and the direction of the blows. It is very difficult to adapt under such actions of the opponent. If we listen to opinion of many experts, then Serena has to win easily over simple Kerber in the final but that is still a big question for us.
Angélique remembers the final of Wimbledon 2016 where she had very good chances if we compare with the American. Now Serena is moving worse and Kerber has to try to return as often as it is possible and to return balls to the rival even by using lobs or short blows on hard court. She has to drain of the rival’s strength as the longer the match will last, the higher her chances to success are.
Serena Williams has admitted that she could die at the time of delivery and she has survived three operations. And because of this she is surprised by the fact that she will play in the final of Wimbledon. We should say that the 181st racket of the world has deserved a chance to fight for the eighth victory in London. Having been watching Serena’s game, it is clear that her movements on the court are not so rapid but she fantastically feels a ball and is good at tactics that allows to be in that place where are the attacks of her opponents.
Williams Jr. in a semi-final has surely won over Julia Görges with the score (6:2,6:4). She has 20 winners and only 11 unforced errors. Serena has managed to cope with the attacks of her rival and was good at returns. The tennis player from Germany didn’t manage to win at least in one of sets.
Statistics and head-to-heads
- The tennis players have met with each other 8 times. Serena has won 6 times.
- Kerber’s average win on 1st serve at Wimbledon is 69%.
- Serena wins 81% of ties on the 1st serve in London on average.
- Both tennis-players on the way to the final of Wimbledon have lost only one set.
In our opinion, the tennis-player from Germany has quite good chances to show worthy resistance to Serena Williams thanks to constant change of a rhythm and the serves made by the left hand. Kerber has to play better in the final of Wimbledon, than two years ago and for this purpose it is necessary to win at least one set. If she manages to do this, then we believe that sensation will happen in London.
