30 people are suspected to be involved with fixed matches in Italy

Strange
matches were played during the period from December 2015 till May
2016. Messina is involved in all four matches that seemed to be
suspicious. The suspicious activity was fixed in matches against
Casertana (1:4), Martina Franca (3:0), Benevento (0:5) and
Paganese(2:2).

The
investigation began after a number of signals that came from Federbet
— the non-profit organization which is specializing in
identification of fixed matches in Europe. The prosecutor Francesco
Massara headed the investigation.

Now
the list of the suspected contains 30 people. At least five of them
are the current football players. One name is known – Karmin
Giorgione who is playing for AlbinoLeffe. Also the part of the
teams’ staff and the members of the coaching staff are suspected as
Tuttolegapro.com reports.

According
to the investigators, the former famous football player – Arturo Di
Napoli who was the coach of Messina in 2015- was the head of the
criminal group that was involved with fixed matches. The
investigation had learnt that there was a person with the nickname
“King Arthur”. Di Napoli had such nickname during his
playing career.

Earlier
Di Napoli was suspected in organizing fixed matches in 2016 and was
disqualified for three years for participation in the organization of
a fixed match between L’Aquila and Savona.
