Zinedine Zidane’s resignation

Zinedine Zidane

Only a few days are left and the World Cup in Russia will begin. And therefore now the greatest interest is attracted by building of final rosters of teams-participants for the World Cup 2018, especially, of the rosters of the top national teams.

Though, the great interest is attracted also by the changes in teams of the top national leagues. For the last weeks after the ending of the club season, La Liga, Spain is in the lead by the number of coaches’ resignations. Nine teams of an elite division have suffered coaching staff’s changes. 4 clubs have changed the coaches in German Bundesliga and in the French Ligue 1 and three – in the EPL and the Italian Serie A.

However, the headline free resignation has happened on the 31st of May on Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. We must agree that not every day the head coaches of the teams which have won the UEFA Champions League final retire. The similar variant has happened in May, 2013 in Bayern Munich. But, then the bosses of the German super club by the arbitrary decision have fired Jupp Heynckes and have proposed the position of the head coach to Josep Guardiola.

And now, unlike the Munich option, nobody dismissed Zinedine Zidane. He has made this decision himself and has read it out at a press conference. Perhaps, after the Champions League final in Kiev between the boss of royal club Florentino Pérez and his already former head coach a conversation happened which didn’t please French expert at all and has pushed him to take this decision.

You shouldn’t forget also that despite the third in a row title of the European club champion, Zinedine Zidane has spent the last season on Estadio Santiago Bernabéu as on a powder keg and all that time was silently watching how the boss of Real was negotiating behind his back with possible candidates for the position of the new head coach. And therefore from outside the final decision of Zinedine seems to be reasonable and well-timed. It is better to leave Don Perez voluntarily, with highly raised head after the third in a row victorious Champions League final, than to learn news about the resignation from the newspaper or on the website of the Spanish club.

And what next? Of course, the sophisticated master of secret intrigues Perez has almost definite variant in the name of the coach of Tottenham Mauricio Pochettino. But, perhaps, the main purpose for the boss of the Royal club is the long-term coach of Germany Joachim Löw. And if in the next few days Pochettino doesn’t head Los Galácticos, then the question of appointment of the new head coach of Real Madrid will be resolved after the FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile the European media resolve the question of “further employment” of Zinedine Zidane. Some send him to Juventus, others – instead of Didier Deschamps to France. We will get more exact answer to this question in the nearest future.
