The USA: NHL – Play-off
Match start: 03:00 (GMT+1)
In the current quarterfinal battle of the recent debutant of NHL Vegas Golden Knights and the finalist of the Stanley Cup 2016 San Jose Sharks, in fact everything is only going to begin. Two last battles at ice arenas of Nevada and California haven’t defined the favorite of the pair (2:2).
Now, according to initial regulations, the fifth match (on the 5th of May) will take place at ice arena of Vegas and then the sixth meeting (on the 7th of May) will take place at ice arena of Sharks. But, if after six games the parity is again established (3:3), the seventh last game will also take place in Vegas (on the 9th of May).
San Jose Sharks (the head coach Peter DeBoer)
In the second home game and at the same time in the fourth in a series, the Sharks have destroyed Golden Knights with doughnut – 4:0. Marcus Sörensen, Joonas Donskoi, Tomáš Hertl and Joe Pavelski were the stars of the winners’ team. And the hero of this match became not the author of one of the thrown pucks but the goalkeeper of Sharks Martin Jones who has managed to turn aside all thirty four throws of the rivals.
Vegas Golden Knights (the head coach Gerard Gallant)
But, as it is well known, in hockey playoffs the number of the pucks thrown in one match has no significant value. The main thing for participants of a series is to be ahead of the rival by the total number of victories. And here only four options are possible – 4:0, 4:1, 4:2 and 4:3.
Now in a quarterfinal series of Vegas and San Jose the equality is established (2:2). It is obvious that further only the third and the fourth options can be acceptable.
Of course now the fans of Nevada are dreaming of the third victory of their idols. Otherwise, if the guests win, the next sixth game in California can become for the debutant the last one. Bookmakers consider the Golden Knights to be quite obvious favorites of the fifth meeting. But, as the statistics shows, in Stanley Cup playoffs rounds the bet made on general total of the thrown pucks is more relevant.
